Finding new and creative ways to spruce up a bathroom space can often seem like a challenge. Every year, Pantone releases their Color of the Year and serves to inspire not only designers, but homemakers too. Many of our products are colour-customisable and wanted to show you how this year’s Pantone Colour of the Year can perfectly freshen up your home.
What is the 2022 colour of the year?
Pantone’s 2022 Color of the Year is a shade called Veri Peri.
Very Peri is a darker shade of blue that Pantone hopes will strike courageousness, inventiveness and creativity in those who bring it into their lives and homes this year. Many people have had to rewrite their lives during the pandemic, and many more will do the same as it comes to an end. Very Peri is about inquisitiveness, new vision and looking towards the brightness of the future.
Pantone has taken inspiration from the way the physical and digital worlds are merging. On one hand, blue is a trusted and familiar colour that is enjoyed by most. On the other hand, warm violet undertones incite courage to step into the new, and the joy and creativity the metaverse has the potential to bring into our lives.
Here are 7 ways you can bring the 2022 Pantone Color of the Year into your home with Showerline.
1. Paint a feature wall
It’s so easy! All you have to do is take the Very Peri product code (PANTONE 17-3938) to your local paint shop and have them mix it up for you. Choose the room you feel could really use a pop of colour and use Very Peri to paint only one wall. We especially love the idea of a feature wall in a bathroom behind the bath or shower as a bold way to draw the eye to the main event of the room.
2. Change up your bathroom linen
Whether you stumble upon something in this colour in a store or choose to have it custom made, towels and bath mats can add major decor value to a bathroom. If your bathroom is mostly white, cream or grey, slightly darker accents in Very Peri will make the room feel more balanced and dynamic.
3. Paint your bathtub
And yes, you can do this yourself too. Find out what your tub is made from and head out to your local hardware store to ask for advice about what primer, type of paint and finishing sealant you should be using. Once you have all your materials in hand, paint the outside of your tub with Very Peri, leaving the rim and the inside white for easier cleaning and some personality.
4. Get crafty with your vanity
Paint the whole thing Very Peri, or work your own design into it. You can also print Very Peri pieces of paper to cut out into specific designs that you can decoupage onto pretty much any surface. If it’s going in your bathroom, don’t forget to seal it with something waterproof once you’re done. This will make it scratch-resistant too!
5. Make the walls two-toned
If there’s one room where you can get away with dark walls, it’s a bathroom. Go for old-school cosiness and glamour by wallpapering the bottom half of your walls with a patterned wallpaper. Paint the top half in Very Peri and have horizontal molding or a dado rail put in between the two to finish the room off perfectly.
6. Hang art
You can have pieces custom made in the colours of your choice. Go for something abstract to bring the mood of Very Peri into the bathroom, or go for something more traditional like Very Peri flowers in a vase. Whatever your personal style, Very Peri can find its place. Have your art framed and hang them curatively around your bathroom. We know it seems unconventional, but it works!
